SIX THINGS TO MOTIVATE YOU TO WORK

There are times when you just find yourself completely dysfunctional. You don’t want to do anything. You just want to spend the day off. Especially when you are a work-from-home mom, the temptation to lie down in bed the whole day is inviting. However, you know you can’t just do that. So, you decide to pull yourself up and try your best to do something.

What can you do to function well and be productive? Take note that being at work doesn’t necessarily mean getting yourself productive. Our goal here is to find ways to stay fruitful and be motivated to have the tasks delivered. These are six things you need to start ASAP:

1.       Look at the glass half full and not half empty.

Be optimistic. A task is difficult only if we allow our mind to think that way. Start seeing things in a lighter way. Be a positive thinker. Do not entertain negative thoughts because it will only ruin your day. Pessimism only causes delay.

2.       Work smart.

A day is only twenty-four hours and you can only do as much. While doing your job, just try to enjoy it. Take each task one at a time. You’d be amazed to know that you’ve accomplished so many things already in just a few hours. Start with the ‘must do’ especially when you are running a dead line. You can also do the easier tasks first and then, the difficult ones. Stop caring about the things that don’t matter. Stay focus on what needs to be done.

3.       Celebrate wins.

Reward yourself when a task is done. Work is laborious especially when there’s no recompense in sight. The prize doesn’t have to be grandiose, a mani-pedi sesh will do.

4.       Have a break and do something not work-related.

Do not allow yourself to feel the effects of burn-out. If you do the same things over and over again, there’s really a tendency to get physically and emotionally exhausted. How to combat it? Take a break from work. Do things that are not related to work like playing with your kids. You can also watch TV, scroll your social media feeds, and have coffee. I also know someone who bakes when she wants to shove away stress from work. Exercise is also good to relieve stress, plus you get a fit body as a bonus.

5.       Have a quiet time.

Meditation is helpful especially when you find yourself disheartened. You can have a quiet time for ten minutes a day, preferably in the morning. This way, you can start your day right. Any time of the day will do, either. If you are a Christian, a morning devotion can work wonders. Count your blessings and be grateful.

6.       Call a friend.

Need some push to get started at work? Call that friend you know could give some sensible advice. Sometimes we just need someone to talk to, to laugh with. Someone who will not judge us if we complain about life. Someone who’d understand.

WHAT MOTHERHOOD TAUGHT ME THAT MADE ME A BETTER INDIVIDUAL

To all mothers in every circumstance, including those who struggle- and all will- I say “Be peaceful. Believe in God and yourself. You are doing better than you think you are.” -Jeffrey Holland I grew up in an environment where women are empowered. My mom single-handedly raised us when my father died. I was only 6 that time, my younger brother at 4. Life was hard but I didn’t know that because my mother was able to conceal the ugly side of life. Fast forward to present and I am now a mother myself. My daughter will be turning 3 this May and so far, I’m still able to cope up with the hustle and bustle of motherhood. Wow! Life’s pretty amazing and chaotic with a toddler. Being a millennial mom, these are the things that I’ve learned and experienced that I want to share with you. If you are a mother yourself, I know you can relate with these. If you are expecting or planning to have kids in the future, these might give you an idea of what awaits you. #1. A baby i...

THE STAY-AT-HOME MOM AND THE WORK-AWAY-FROM-HOME MOM

“You’re always going to wonder if you’re doing things wrong, but that’s what it means to be a mom, to care so much about someone else that you just want to be as perfect as possible.” — Naya Rivera My previous post talks about my transition from being a corporate worker to a stay-at-home mom. This time I will share about the pros and cons of both working and the SAHM. This article does not intend to make anyone think less of herself but rather to open our eyes to the beauty of motherhood and how it changes a woman to be the best version of herself. I always believe in woman empowerment and having equal rights as men. I was raised by an alpha-female woman who became a great influencer to my life. My mother single-handedly raised us when my father died, and she was only 32 then. A mom of two with no work experience braced herself to another chapter of being a full-time career woman. She juggled working from a government office to doing small business on the side. You can never real...

PRODUCT REVIEW: CREAM SILK DRY RESCUE

I was not into hair conditioners. I can live without it as long as I wash my hair with shampoo. Shampooing removes dirt and oil, leaving hair squeaky clean. However, it can also make your strands dry. I’ve been using organic shampoo for months and I noticed that my chemically-treated hair was becoming parched and frizzy. I don’t blame the organic shampoo though. Any shampoo can really make your hair dry.   I felt the need to use conditioners. Weeks ago, while I was searching for the best fit for my hair, I came across Sample Room’s website that offers free samples of different hair care products. I opted to try Cream Silk since it’s one of the most popular hair care products in the Philippines when it comes to conditioners. Last week, I got my free samples and tried it immediately. Brand: Cream Silk Dry Rescue Hair Reborn Conditioner The label claims it has customized solutions designed for Filipinas which got me because some products work differently to different ra...
